Whiskey sour

In this article, I'll explain how to prepare the first sour, i.e. whiskey sour. Like each sour, it is made up of specific ingredients including a acid base (lemon juice in this case), a base dolce (sugar syrup in this case), a alcohol base (whiskey naturalmente per il whiskey sour) is one foaming like any self-respecting sour.

The latter can be of animal origin (albumin) or of vegetable origin (faba water in most cases).

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 ml bourbon whiskey
  • 30 ml fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 20 ml sugar syrup
  • OPTIONAL: 1 Pasteurized egg white
  • SEAL: Lemon peel
  • ICE: Cubes

PREPARATION OF THE WHISKEY SOUR

To make whiskey sour you will need a cocktail shaker, if you don't have one, you can solve the problem by using a half-litre bormioli jar. Squeeze a lemon to obtain the juice that you will then need to prepare the drink.

Pour all the ingredients helping you to measure them with the jigger in the smallest tin or in the mixing glass (glass piece of the shaker if your version is made up of a steel piece and a glass piece). Then pour in the lemon juice, the sugar syrup, the whiskey and an egg white if I use the whole egg or 20 ml of albumen already separated.

To obtain a better result, perform a first dry shake, therefore without ice. Then open the shaker, fill it three-quarters full of ice and give it a second shake.

Take the strainer and filter the contents of the shaker from the ice into the glass. Garnish with the essential oils of the lemon peel that you will use for the garnish. This will allow you to partially remove the smell of the egg if you have opted to use egg white.
