Kapriol dry gin – Review

Welcome back to the blog! In this article, which I will insert in the section Darrins recommends, I'm going to talk about kapriol dry gin. This is the first review relating to a product I am particularly fond of which will obviously precede other reviews of the products that I tend to use personally in addition to the most popular ones on the market.

It is about kapriol dry gin, a dry gin, as you can guess from the wording, with a particularly vegetable aroma. Before starting I want to specify the reason why I am linked to this label, or the fact that he was able to personally meet who produces it and that he used it several times in the last period. Let's go and see this gin in more detail!

The birth of kapriol dry gin

Kapriol dry gin was born in 2016 following years of research in order to improve an already existing historical recipe. This recipe was based on a juniper liqueur of 1948, known by the same name as kapriol or also di distillate of the forest, produced by Alpe distillery located in Bastia d’Alpago.

Later the same distillery together with the brand and some of the products was acquired by the Beniamino Maschio distillery in San Pietro di Feletto which still holds the rights.

The kapriol dry gin recipe

The kapriol dry gin recipe is based on two unique characteristics that make it truly special. The first is that of be composed solely of officinal herbs harvested in the areas of the Dolomites. The second characteristic instead is that of not contain among the botanicals used any type of citrus, strange thing for a gin as the latter are often used to balance recipes and make gins softer.

Despite this the gin is well balanced with one strong vegetal note in which it predominates, as it should be, juniper along with other botanicals such as laurel, hop, chamomile e mountain pine.
